MacLennan breaks record with ninth win Going into Sunday's race,Windows 7 Product Key Dave MacLennan of Scotsburn did not believe he was the favourite to capture the Johnny Miles Marathon and break the record for most wins. He expected Scott McCosham and a few other runners to make it difficult for him to do. He proved himself wrong on a day that seemed as though it was meant to be. Not only did he break the record, but he did so on his 50th marathon since he began running. "I was really hoping I would win today, but I knew there were two other runners that ran faster than me this year and I knew things had to fall my way for it to happen and here we are, " said MacLennan. Having crossed the finish line at the Johnny Miles event many times, eight of which for victories, he is not new to the experience. That said, this time felt completely different for him. "It was really really cool to tell you the truth, " said MacLennan. "Knowing that I've got the record here now is really cool and being able to do it during my 50th marathon, which happened to be in my hometown feels great. " "Words can't really explain it I don't think. " The turning point for him on the course was when Chuck Dickson from New Brunswick had a hamstring problem heading into the third loop. "He was really closing in on me and I could feel him getting catching up, but ended up having to drop out, " said MacLennan. "I was really fortunate on that one because I know Chuck has run really well this year. " "They told me I had three minutes on the next guy and I started to feel pretty comfortable. I knew I just had to hold my pace. " In a similar fashion to last year, MacLennan finished five minutes ahead of the second place finisher. This year it was Scott Clark of Summerside. Although he now holds the record, it doesn't mean that he won't be back or that he won't be pushing for another victory. MacLennan said that as long as he can keep going he'll be involved, but if he doesn't win next year then he doesn't win and it's not a big deal. "There may be some years where I won't be doing the marathon, but I'll be doing something as long as I can, even if that means working my way down to the 5k, " he said. "You never know. " The 48-year-old says that he is very fortunate to still be running at the level he is at his age. He says he feels he is slowing down, although his time of 2:46:44 is two minutes quicker than his time from last year. "I feel great, " said MacLennan with regards to his physical health after the race. "I know I'm slowing down too, but here we are after another. I don't know how much longer I will keep running marathons. I know I'm fortunate to be able to do this at my age. "
